Job Description

Position Summary The Quality Manager is responsible for protecting the customer and company reputation and a world-class safety and quality focused manufacturing company. QM we lead the entire quality group and partnering as a peer with the General Manager and Shift Plant Managers. The Quality Manager directs the team in determining production standards for a company’s products, QMS - quality management system, lab and testing standards, review and approve quality inspection SOPs.

Major Function and Scope

  • Understand customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes.Â
  • As a cross functional team member, the QM works directly with manufacturing, engineering, sales, warranty, customers, or suppliers and subcontractors to ensure product requirements are met
  • Train and lead all the department on Quality Circles and A3 Problem solving activities.Â
  • Devise and review specifications for products or processes
  • Set requirements for raw material or intermediate products for suppliers and monitor their compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines as well as legal obligations.
  • Supervise inspectors, technicians and other staff and provide guidance and feedback.
  • Oversee all product development procedures to identify deviations from quality standards.
  • Inspect final output and compare properties to requirements.
  • Approve the right products or reject defectives.Â
  • Preparing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
  • Keep accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis.
  • Solicit feedback from customers to assess whether their requirements are met.
  • Submit detailed reports to appropriate executives.
  • Be on the lookout for opportunities for improvement and develop new efficient procedures.
 

Knowledge, Experience, and Competencies

  • Proven experience as quality manager, preferable in hard surface flooring and/or extrusion.
  • Conscientious and responsible
  • A keen eye for detail and a result driven approach
  • Outstanding communication skills including visual, written and verbal.
  • Marketing and selling of the quality culture.
  • Understanding of QC Flooring industry standards.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • In depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards
  • Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods.
  • BSc/ Ba in business administration or relevant field
  • Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (QMS, ISO 9000...)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • In the organization, all team members must be flexible and willing to undertake a wide range of activities during daily business, including some which may not normally be part of the job description for an equivalent position elsewhere. It is therefore a requirement that the individual filling this position has an aptitude to learn new skills, to think for him/herself, and be able to work in an environment where fixed routines may not be established.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally exposed to wet, warm, humid, and cold temperatures.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit.
  • Must be able to manage delicate work and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
